What Sabbath Mode Means
Where the cabinet is clearly still cold but the display and the interior lights have gone dark, Bertazzoni's troubleshooting guide points at Sabbath Mode - an observance setting that deliberately shuts off the lighting and the panel while cooling carries on as normal.
Common Causes of Sabbath Mode
- The mode switched on deliberately and then forgotten
- A key combination held long enough during cleaning to engage it
- The setting re-engaging after a power cut on models that restore it
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the cabinet temperature first to confirm cooling really is continuing, then look up the Sabbath Mode sequence for your model in the manual. Nothing needs repairing if the food is cold and only the lights and panel are out.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- There is no problem here, so replacing a door switch or an interior lamp on the assumption that the lighting has failed is money spent on nothing.
- If the display is dark and the cabinet is also warming, that is a different problem entirely, and it needs a proper diagnosis rather than a search for the Sabbath sequence.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
