What Fc Means
Page 17 of the P365IME manual explains that this control watches its own working temperature among other things, and that when a problem is found it shuts every heating element down and puts an F and a second letter on the display. Against Fc the remedy is a single line - allow the cooktop to cool down - which places it with the control electronics running too hot rather than with a broken part.
Common Causes of Fc
- A long session at high power with no gap for the electronics underneath to shed heat
- A drawer, packaging or appliance pushed up under the hob box, closing off its air path
- A cooling fan slowing or stalling, so the control bay never cools between uses
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch every zone off, leave the pans off the glass and let the cooktop stand untouched until it is cold to the hand, then try again. Bertazzoni asks for nothing more than that against this code, so give it a proper half hour rather than retrying after two minutes.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Let the appliance go properly cold before anything is unscrewed, because the electronics bay directly under the glass is exactly the part that has just been reported as too hot.
- Isolate the cooktop at its own breaker before the underside is opened - this is a high-current circuit and the coil wiring sits alongside the control board.
- If Fc returns on a cold cooktop, the reading is wrong rather than the heat, and that is a sensor or board question rather than something more cooling time will fix.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
