What H Means

An H in a zone display is a warning, not an error. Bertazzoni's induction manual says it marks a zone whose glass is still hot enough to burn, and that it clears by itself once the surface has dropped to a safe temperature. The manual even suggests putting that leftover heat to use for another pan.

Common Causes of H

  • A zone recently switched off after cooking, with heat still passing back from the pan into the glass
  • A hot pan or dish left standing on a zone that is already switched off
  • A residual-heat sensor reading high if H persists on glass that is genuinely cold

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Treat the marked zone as hot and keep hands, cloths and plastics off it. Nothing needs resetting - the letter goes out on its own as the glass cools, and how long that takes depends on how hard the zone was worked.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The letter exists precisely because induction glass gives no other clue that it is hot, so wiping a zone showing H is a straightforward burn.
  • If H stays lit for hours on a cold cooktop, the sensing is wrong rather than the glass, and that is checked with the appliance off at its breaker rather than by covering the display.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

H FAQ

Minutes rather than hours in ordinary use - a long, high-power session naturally takes longer to fade than a quick boil.

Wait for it to clear. Cleaning products on hot glass can mark it permanently, quite apart from the burn risk.
