What Operation Stops With Overheat Icon Means
Bertazzoni's table gives three possible reasons for a zone stopping mid-cook with the overheat icon showing: the cooktop is genuinely too hot, the cooling fan has stopped doing its job, or there is a technical error behind it. The published remedy starts with the ventilation rather than the hob itself.
Common Causes of Operation Stops With Overheat Icon
- Storage pushed up under the hob box, closing off the air inlet or outlet
- A cooling fan that has slowed, seized or filled with dust
- An unusually high ambient temperature around the appliance
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check nothing has been pushed into the space beneath the hob box and that the cabinet or drawer under it still leaves the air path clear, then let the cooktop cool and try again. Bertazzoni also asks you to consider whether the room itself is unusually warm.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Give the appliance time to go cold before anything is unscrewed, since the complaint is heat and the bay under the glass is where that heat is.
- The fan runs from the same board as the coils, so the breaker goes off before anyone reaches in to feel whether it is turning.
- A fan that is fitted back slightly out of true rubs and fails again quickly, which is why this is a poor candidate for a quick swap.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
