What Auto Shutdown Protection Means
Bertazzoni builds a maximum running time into each power level - the manual prints the table, running from several hours at the lowest settings down to well under two hours at the highest - and the hob switches that zone off by itself when the limit is reached. The same page notes that lifting the pan stops the heating immediately and the hob switches off about two minutes later.
Common Causes of Auto Shutdown Protection
- A zone left running past the published time limit for its power level
- A pan lifted off and not replaced within about two minutes
- A very long simmer or stock reduction outrunning the low-power limit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing is broken here. Switch the zone back on and carry on cooking; if you regularly need very long low-temperature sessions, plan on touching the control occasionally rather than assuming the zone will hold indefinitely.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- There is no problem to chase, so opening a working cooktop to investigate a safety timer only risks the glass and the seal around it.
- If a zone cuts out far sooner than the printed times allow, that is a different problem - most likely the overheat protection - and it is worth checking the ventilation under the hob before anything else.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
