What Power Failure Warning Means
Bertazzoni prints a standing warning rather than an error code for this one: during a power failure the oven burner and the grill must not be used, and the oven control knob should be left in the OFF position throughout. The reasoning given is the injury risk in trying to light and put out those burners by hand.
Common Causes of Power Failure Warning
- A household outage or a tripped breaker on the range circuit
- The range switched off at its isolator during other work
- A wider utility interruption affecting the whole street
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the oven control knob to OFF and leave it there for the whole outage, and keep the burner knobs off unless your own model's manual specifically permits lighting a cooktop burner by hand. When power returns, check every knob is still at OFF before anything is switched on.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Leave the oven knob at OFF for the duration: a knob turned on during an outage can be feeding gas into a cold cavity with no flame and no way to see it.
- Reaching into an oven cavity with a lit match or a lighter is exactly the action the warning is written to prevent, and it is worse in a cavity that has already had gas running into it.
- If you smell gas at any point during or after an outage, leave the knobs alone, avoid electrical switches, get outside and call for help from there.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
