What Detection of Small Articles Means
Bertazzoni's induction manual describes a deliberate behavior rather than a problem: if the hob finds an unsuitable or non-magnetic pan on a zone, or something small like a knife, a fork or a set of keys, it drops into standby within a minute and lets the fan run on for another minute afterwards.
Common Causes of Detection of Small Articles
- Cutlery, keys or a utensil resting on a switched-on zone
- A pan with a base too small or too weakly magnetic for the zone to accept
- An induction interface disc or trivet confusing the detection
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Clear the glass of cutlery, keys and utensils, put a properly magnetic pan on the zone you want, and start again. The habit worth building is not using the cooktop as a landing spot for metal objects while it is switched on.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Metal left on an active zone can heat up fast, so let the glass and any object on it cool before clearing it rather than grabbing a knife that has been sitting there.
- If the hob drops to standby with a known-good pan properly centered, the detection circuit under that zone is the suspect, and reaching it means isolating the appliance at its breaker.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
