What Oven Is Not Heating Means
Bertazzoni separates an oven that is dead from an oven that lights up and then never gets warm. For the second case the guide asks three things: is the breaker or fuse intact, is there proper electrical power reaching the oven, and has a temperature actually been selected on the control.
Common Causes of Oven Is Not Heating
- No temperature selected, or a selector left between two positions
- One leg of the supply lost, so the control works but the elements have no power
- A failed heating element, thermostat or control relay
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the temperature selector is genuinely set rather than sitting between positions, and confirm the breaker has not tripped on one leg only - a partly lost supply is a classic cause of controls that light up while the elements stay cold.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A lost supply leg leaves live conductors in the junction box while the oven looks completely inert, which is why the breaker goes off before anything is unbolted.
- Elements are tested with a meter on a de-energised oven rather than by eye, because a broken element can look entirely normal.
- Working inside a cavity that has recently been at temperature invites burns from the element brackets and the rear baffle long after the oven feels cool at the door.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
