What Controls Are Very Hot Means
Bertazzoni's manual treats hot controls as normal in one specific circumstance - the door left open for a long period while the oven runs - and as something to investigate otherwise, asking owners to check the door closes correctly and that the cooking system is working as it should.
Common Causes of Controls Are Very Hot
- The door left open while the oven is running
- A door seal that has hardened or pulled away, letting heat escape at the top of the door
- A cooling fan not running, so the fascia never gets the airflow it relies on
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close the door and keep it closed while the oven is on, including during broiling. Then check the door shuts squarely against its seal; a door that stands off even slightly sends cavity heat straight up across the fascia.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Controls that are too hot to touch are a burn risk in normal use, and on a built-in oven that heat is also passing into the cabinet around it.
- The cooling fan and the fascia electronics sit behind the control panel, so the oven is off at its breaker and cold before anything there is opened.
- A door seal replaced without the door itself being checked for squareness usually leaves the same gap and the same hot fascia.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
