What Showroom Mode Means
Two different Bertazzoni manuals give the same first answer for an oven that will not heat: check that showroom mode is not switched on. It is a display setting intended for retail floors, where the controls respond normally but the elements are held off.
Common Causes of Showroom Mode
- A display or ex-floor appliance delivered with the setting still enabled
- The mode selected accidentally while working through the setup menu
- The setting restored to its default state after a control board was replaced
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Look through the oven's setup menu for a showroom or demo entry and check its state - the Heritage series manual lists showroom among the setup options alongside language, clock format and alarm volume, and describes it as reserved for retailer use.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The controls behave completely normally in this state, so it is easy to spend a service call and a replacement element on an oven that was never failing.
- The Modern Series manual pairs this check with a suggestion to drop the supply for a minute at the breaker, and that is done at the breaker rather than by pulling a hard-wired oven out of its housing.
- Working through unfamiliar setup menus by trial and error can change the clock format, the language or the cooking offsets on the way past.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
