What Oven Light Does Not Work Means
Bertazzoni's guide gives three causes for a dark cavity, and only one of them is a failed bulb. The others are the appliance having no power at all, and a self-clean cycle being in progress - during cleaning the lamps are deliberately switched off.
Common Causes of Oven Light Does Not Work
- A blown oven lamp
- A self-clean cycle running, during which the lamps are switched off by design
- A lamp that has worked loose in its holder rather than failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check whether the rest of the oven responds at all first, and confirm no cleaning cycle is running. If the oven is otherwise normal, the bulb is the likely answer, and the manual's related entry adds that a bulb can simply be loose rather than blown.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Take the oven off at its breaker and let the cavity go cold before a lamp is touched - the holder sits in the cavity wall and both the glass and the surround hold heat for a long time.
- Ordinary household bulbs do not survive oven temperatures, and one fitted in place of the proper high-temperature lamp fails quickly and can shatter into the cavity.
- The lamp holder is wired into the cavity loom, so a holder that has burned rather than a bulb that has blown is not a swap-and-go job.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
