What Lower unit too warm Means
Bertazzoni's message table maps the lower unit to the freezer compartment, so this one means the freezer has climbed above the temperature it is meant to hold. Unlike the too-cold messages, this is sent straight to the troubleshooting guide rather than given a wait-and-see period.
Common Causes of Lower unit too warm
- A door or drawer that has been open, or is not sealing on its gasket
- Airflow blocked by food packed against the internal vents
- An evaporator fan, defrost heater or sensor problem stopping the compartment holding temperature
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the door or drawer is sealing and that the vents inside are not blocked by packed-in food, then look at what is actually in there - a freezer running warm is the one alert where checking the contents comes before checking the appliance.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Deal with the food first: partly thawed frozen food that refreezes is a real quality and safety question, and it will not wait for a service appointment.
- A freezer that has frosted its evaporator solid needs a controlled defrost rather than a heat gun, which melts liner plastic long before it clears the ice.
- The defrost circuit and the fan both run from the control board on line voltage, so the appliance is unplugged before anything behind the rear panel is touched.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
