What Touch Controls Unresponsive Means
Bertazzoni separates a locked or unresponsive touch panel from a genuine board problem. The table gives three everyday reasons: the key lock is on, there is a thin film of water across the controls, or the controls are being pressed with a fingertip rather than the flat of the finger.
Common Causes of Touch Controls Unresponsive
- The key lock or child lock left engaged
- A film of water, steam condensation or grease across the touch strip
- Pressing with a fingertip, a nail or through a glove
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Dry the control strip thoroughly, then press with the pad of your finger rather than a nail or fingertip, and check whether the key lock indicator is lit. The manual points out that even a slight film of water is enough to stop the keys registering.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Nothing here needs the cooktop opened, and disturbing a bonded glass top over a control that only needed drying is a poor trade.
- If a clean, dry panel still ignores the pad of a bare finger, the panel itself is to blame, and that is diagnosed with the appliance dead at its breaker.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
