What Breaker Trips At Switch-On Means
Bertazzoni's P365IX table treats a breaker that trips the moment the cooktop is switched on as one of two things: the appliance is connected incorrectly, or there is a problem inside it. The manual asks for the connection to be checked first, before anything inside the unit is suspected.
Common Causes of Breaker Trips At Switch-On
- An incorrect or loose connection at the appliance terminal block
- A breaker or cable not rated for the cooktop being drawn on
- An internal problem such as a failed power device putting a short across the supply
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Leave the breaker off. This is not a reset-and-retry situation - repeatedly re-closing a breaker onto a problem is how breakers and conductors get damaged, and the published first step is having the connection checked by someone qualified to do it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A circuit that trips instantly is telling you there is a problem path on it, so the breaker stays off until an electrician has looked - that is the whole point of it tripping.
- Fitting a larger breaker to stop the nuisance removes the protection that is currently doing its job on the house wiring.
- Induction cooktops are frequently connected on a dedicated feed with specific conductor sizing, and a connection made to the wrong pattern can look tidy and still be wrong.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
