What E1 Means

On the DW60 and DW 24XV generation of Bertazzoni dishwashers, the printed error table gives E1 as "longer inlet time" and blames a faucet that is not open, a restricted intake, or water pressure that is simply too low. It is a different control platform from the DW24T3 range, where a fill problem is reported as FF instead.

Common Causes of E1

  • A supply tap left only part-way open after plumbing or cabinet work
  • A fill hose crushed or kinked where the machine was pushed back into its cutout
  • Household water pressure sitting under what the fill valve needs to work

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Check the supply tap above or behind the cabinet is wound fully open, then close it again, switch the dishwasher off at the breaker, and unscrew the fill hose at the tap end to rinse the small mesh screen sitting inside the fitting. Bertazzoni's table lists those checks first, and also asks you to confirm household pressure is not too low for the machine.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Close the tap and kill the circuit before the hose comes off: a line still under pressure empties straight into the cabinet base, over the electrics the machine sits on.
  • Where the tap and screen both test clean, the next suspect is the fill valve, which is a live part reached from below the machine and not a hand-tool job.
  • Nudging the dishwasher back into its cutout is how most fill hoses get pinched in the first place, and repeating that by feel tends to recreate the problem a week later.
  • Pulling the unit out to reach the plumbing may affect what is left of your warranty cover, so read your terms before you start.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

E1 FAQ

With the supply side ruled out, the fill valve or the level sensing behind it is the remaining candidate, and both are tested with the machine de-energised and partly withdrawn.

They describe similar trouble on two different Bertazzoni control platforms - FF belongs to the DW24T3 series table, E1 to the DW60 and DW 24XV table, so quote the code your own panel shows.
