What Oven Light Stays On Means
A lamp that never goes out means the oven still thinks its door is open. Bertazzoni's guide sends owners to two places for that: an obstruction in the door, and a bent hinge - both of which leave the door sitting a fraction off its switch.
Common Causes of Oven Light Stays On
- Something trapped between the door and the frame holding it off the switch
- A bent or sagging door hinge leaving the door out of true
- A failed door switch reporting the door as open
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door and look along the frame for anything caught in it, then close it and check the gap is even down both sides. A door that closes crooked, or sits proud at one corner, is the visible sign of a hinge that has been pulled.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A door that no longer sits square is also no longer sealing, so the oven is losing heat and running the outer panels hotter than they should be while this goes unfixed.
- Oven door hinges are under heavy spring tension, and one that lets go during a DIY removal can do real damage to hands and to the door glass.
- The door switch is wired into the control loom behind the fascia, so the breaker goes off before anything there is disturbed.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
