Common Problems

Why Is My Bertazzoni Dishwasher Leaving Spots on Glassware?

Cloudy, spotty glassware isn't a drainage problem -- it's almost always about hard water minerals and how well your rinse aid is doing its job.

Spots and a hazy film on glassware are a completely different problem from standing water at the bottom of the tub, and they call for a different fix. In most cases, it comes down to how well mineral content in your water is being neutralized during the rinse.

Rinse Aid Does Most of the Work

Rinse aid changes the surface tension of the water clinging to glass and dishware, so it sheets off evenly during the dry cycle instead of drying into visible mineral spots. Check the dispenser regularly, since it depletes faster than most people expect, and refill it well before it runs completely dry.

Hard Water Makes This Worse

In areas with hard water, mineral content in the water itself is the underlying cause, and rinse aid alone may not fully offset it. Using a dishwasher-specific water softener additive alongside your regular detergent can noticeably improve results in harder-water regions.

Check the Detergent Dispenser Too

An old, clumped detergent tab that isn’t dissolving fully can leave its own residue that looks similar to mineral spotting. Try a fresh box of detergent before assuming the issue is purely water hardness.

If Spotting Persists

If you’ve addressed rinse aid and detergent and spotting continues, the water heating element that drives the dry cycle may not be reaching full temperature. Visit our Bertazzoni dishwasher repair page to book a diagnostic.
