What F7 Means
Bertazzoni's own use & care manual lists F7 as overheating — the control board has detected a temperature inside the unit higher than it's designed to safely operate at, and has stopped the cycle as a precaution.
Common Causes of F7
- A failed heating element stuck on rather than cycling off
- A failed heater relay on the control board
- A temperature sensor misreading and allowing the heater to run longer than it should
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There isn't a safe homeowner check for this — Bertazzoni's own manual routes F7 straight to "Contact service," since it points to a genuine overheat condition inside a powered appliance.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- This is the dishwasher's own safety system responding to real heat buildup — opening the unit before it's cooled and de-energized is a shock and burn risk.
- A heating element stuck on can still be drawing power even after the display shows the unit stopped, so assuming it's safe to touch is a real risk.
- This can be mistaken for the separate F8 heater-error or F6 sensor codes, and replacing the wrong part is a common, expensive mistake.
- Reassembling the heating circuit without a proper seal can allow water to reach live parts on the next use.
- Heating-circuit access typically requires removing the base pan, one of the more common ways owners accidentally affect their warranty coverage — check your terms first.
