What F6 Means
Bertazzoni's own use & care manual lists F6 as a faulty heater sensor — the temperature sensor (NTC) monitoring the heating circuit isn't reporting a reading the control board can trust, distinct from the F8 heater-circuit fault itself.
Common Causes of F6
- A failed or drifting heater temperature sensor
- Damaged or corroded sensor wiring
- A control board no longer reading the sensor signal correctly
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There isn't a safe homeowner check for this — heater-sensor resistance is tested with a multimeter on a de-energized unit, which Bertazzoni's own manual routes straight to "Contact service."
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Testing the sensor requires a multimeter and a fully de-energized dishwasher; skipping either step risks a shock.
- This is easy to confuse with the separate F8 heater-circuit fault, and replacing the wrong, more expensive part is a common mistake.
- The sensor and its wiring sit low in the tub near the heating element, and disturbing the wrong connector while testing can introduce a second fault.
- A sensor seated back a hair off its factory mounting point can go on delivering a skewed reading despite functioning mechanically.
- Reaching the sensor typically requires removing the base pan, a common way this warranty gets voided.
