Common Causes of FE
- A genuinely failed main control board
- Power surge or outage damage to the board
- Corroded or loose connectors on the control board
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Try a full power reset by unplugging the dishwasher for a minute, or switching off the breaker if it's hardwired, then restoring power and starting a new cycle — if FE returns immediately, the board problem is confirmed rather than a temporary glitch.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Since this points at the control board broadly rather than one identifiable sensor, swapping parts on a hunch without real diagnostics is a common way to spend money without fixing anything.
- A control board can still carry residual charge from a capacitor after power is cut, and working on it before that charge has fully bled off is a genuine shock hazard.
- The board typically lives inside the door's control housing, and opening that housing is one of the more common ways owners unknowingly affect their remaining warranty coverage — check your terms first.
- A board reinstalled with a connector reversed can send incorrect signals elsewhere, creating a new and more confusing problem.
- Ordering the wrong board revision for this model is a common, expensive mistake without a proper parts lookup.
