A Struggling Convection Fan Shows Up as Browning, Not Heat Loss
The convection fan’s job is to keep hot air moving evenly past every shelf, not just to make the oven hotter. A fan motor that’s lost some of its speed can still spin, and the cavity can still reach the set temperature, while heat simply pools unevenly around the cavity instead of circulating — exactly the pattern that shows up as one side of a tray browning ahead of the other.
Element Balance Matters in a Multi-Element Cavity
Wall ovens with separate bake, broil, and convection elements rely on all three contributing their expected share of heat. If one element is quietly underperforming while the others read normal on a simple on/off check, the cavity can still reach temperature overall while heat distribution skews toward whichever elements are working at full strength.
Rule Out Rack Position First
Before assuming a fault, confirm you’re using the manufacturer-recommended rack position for what you’re cooking, and that pans aren’t crowded against the cavity walls where they can block airflow entirely on one side.
